You guys know what a TV-show junkie I am, right?

Remember my Top 8 TV show food moments post?

If you enjoyed it, I’m back with part 2!

It was only appropriate, considering the huge number of new shows out there now that have me glued to my laptop almost every night.

This time around the characters involved include earls, lawyers, doctors, stewardesses, vampires, hunters and scientists!

Three cheers for diversity! ;)

# 8 Terra Nova
Season 1/episode 1 (Genesis)
The orange scene

2

2

The year is 2147. The Earth is exhausted, taking its last few breaths. In these dark times, a father brings home a surprise for his children. It’s an orange.
Can you imagine fruit being hard to come by? I can’t.
The back-in-time space the characters move to inhabit, is portrayed as a fertile land full of strange and colourful fruit.
Also: Dinosaurs rock. (Sorry I just had to say that.)

2

# 7 Pan Am
Season 1/episode 9 (Kiss kiss bang bang)
The coffee scene

2

2

Pilots and stewardesses are supposed to be on their best behaviour in the sky.
Except this one time.
The usually gentle-mannered Laura drops hot coffee on a creepy old pilot when he tries to stare down her shirt.
Way.to.go.

2

# 6 Grey’s Anatomy
Season 2/episode 14 (Tell me sweet little lies)
The hot dog scene

2

2

The one time on the show where Christina isn’t dull, ill tempered, obnoxious and generally disagreeable.
A super fun hot dog eating competition, in the middle of the work day?! Who says docs don’t have fun?
Also, those hot dogs made me mighty hungry. Like seriously.

2

# 5 The Vampire Diaries
Season 2/episode 5 (Kill or be killed)
The spiked lemonade scene

2

2

Okay to be honest I had to think long and hard for this one.
This show has been a guilty pleasure for a long time and I really wanted to include it!
At an innocent town picnic (or so we think) a werewolf spikes lemonade with vervain, to hurt and expose two vampires.
This stuff is right up my alley by the way.

2

# 4 Downton Abbey
Season 1/episode 5
The salty pudding scene

2

2

In this period drama, Mrs Patmore the cook makes a stunning raspberry meringue pudding and then mistakenly tops it with salt instead of sugar.
All the lords and ladies at the dinner table choke and splutter quite appropriately, and although it’s the cook’s worst nightmare, it’s such a funny scene!
This is the hottest new thing in TV-show land, and if you’re not watching it yet- start NOW.
If nothing else, I can bet a million bucks you’ll adore Maggie Smith’s badass character.

2

# 3 The Good Wife
Season 1/episode 23 (Running)
The pizza scene

2

2

Taking a break from the legal madness that is their lives, Alicia and Will share a casual pizza and beer in office, reminiscing about their days together in college.
The simple food and the completely complex relationship makes for a fantastic moment.
Plus Julianna Margulies has such an intriguing face. Don’t you agree?

2

# 2 Supernatural
Season 2/episode 21 (All hell breaks loose-Part 1)
The pie scene

2

2

The swoon-worthy (equal parts masculine and sensitive) Dean Winchester loves pie. (one of the MANY reasons why I love him)
The problem is there’s always something that gets in the way- demons, pagan Gods, and his brother Sam’s habit of showing up with cake instead of pie. (It’s not the same thing, Sam!)
My fav Dean lines in the show: “Hey, see if they’ve got any pie. Bring me some pie. I love me some pie.” :)
There’s even a site dedicated to the Dean and pie love story. Check it out here.
This is some serious stuff.

2

# 1 The Big bang theory
Season 1/episode 7 (The dumpling paradox)
The dumpling scene

2

2

Food comes up very often on this show, but this scene in their regular Chinese restaurant has to be the funniest one ever.
(Also- dumplings! I want one please. Now.)
Read below and revel in the greatness that is Sheldon.

2

Scene: A Chinese restaurant.

2

Sheldon: I’m sorry, we cannot do this without Wolowitz.
Leonard: We can’t order Chinese food without Wolowitz?
Sheldon: Let me walk you through it. Our standard is, the steamed dumpling appetizer, General Tso’s chicken, beef with broccoli, shrimp with lobster sauce and vegetable lo-main. Do you see the problem?
Leonard: I see a problem.
Sheldon: Our entire order is predicated on four dumplings and four entrees divided among four people.
Leonard: So, we’ll just order three entrees.
Sheldon: Fine. What do you want to eliminate? And who gets the extra dumpling?
Raj: We could cut it into thirds.
Sheldon: Then it is no longer a dumpling. Once you cut it open it is at best a very small open faced sandwich.

Hope you enjoyed that!
Have a fun weekend :)

There are so many movies that celebrate food.

2

Julie and Julia.

2

Ratatouille.

2

Chocolat.

2

The Waitress.

2

And there are so many lists on the web that remind us of these wonderful movies.

2

Here is one.
And here is another.

2

I don’t know about you, but the number of movies I’ve watched recently has drastically plummeted from earlier.

2

This is because I’ve fallen in love with tv-shows.

2

I like the continuous engagement, the time taken for character exposition, and the languorous days spent in bed watching episode after episode like a person who has no life whatsoever.

2

I enjoy watching vampires, islands, chefs, detectives, housewives, doctors, and high school kids to name a few.

2

Yes.
I know.
I am an addict.
A crazy addict.

2

So celebrating my love for tv-shows, I’ve put together a list of my top 8 food moments in them.
Yay!

2

# 8 Modern family
Season 2/episode 1 (The Old wagon)
The chocolate milk scene

2

2

This is the classic choice a few unlucky boys are forced to make at some point in their lives- mother versus “the other woman in his life”.
Regular chocolate milk versus chocolate milk with a pinch of salt to “bring out the flavour”. And Sofia Vergara’s accent is plain delicious!

2

#7 Lost
Season 1/episode 8 (Confidence man)
The peanut butter scene

2

2

Even though there is no actual peanut butter involved in this episode, the whole scene is really heartfelt. Charlie tries his best to get some of the real stuff for Claire, but when he can’t find any, he wins her over with an empty bottle and his charm. He says- “It’s full, full to the brim, with stick to the roof of your mouth, oh, god, makes you want a glass of milk extra smooth. It’s the best bloody peanut butter I’ve ever tasted.” I can practically taste it myself.
(Thanks a ton Charlie- now I’m walking towards my jar with a spoon.)

2

#6 The Mentalist
Almost every episode
The tea scene/s

2

2

Patrick Jane loves his tea. He describes tea as “a hug in cup”, and frankly I couldn’t agree more. He usually makes it himself, swiftly dipping the tea bag in a warm cup. It’s most interesting however, when he drinks it under great stress or immense calm. If you’ve seen the season three finale, you’ll know what I’m talking about.
P.s- How painfully cute is he?

2

# 5 Desperate housewives
Season 7/episode 19 (The lies ill-concealed)
The pineapple upside-down cake scene

2

2

Gaby (the woman who ordered chinese for Christmas) hides a headset in her lustrous hair (I would KILL for hair like that), and has Bree give her instructions for a cake that her husband (Carlos) knows she didn’t make herself. When he asks her to replicate it and she fails, Bree secretly replaces it with a perfect cake. Gaby then presents the cake to her husband, and says (very dramatically) “If only trust were as easy to make”. It cracks me up! :)

2

#4 Glee
Season 2/episode 3 (Grilled cheesus)
The grilled cheese scene/s

2

2

This is the one where Finn sees the face of Jesus in a grilled cheese sandwich and prays to it. Puck is at his charming best in this episode, singing Only the good die young. The sandwich itself looks really delicious by the way- perfectly crispy brown and cheesy. It makes me hungry.

2

#3 Sex and the City
Season 3/episode 5 (No ifs, ands, or butts)
The cupcake scene

2

2

When Carrie and Miranda ate those delectable cupcakes outside Magnolia Bakery, it was a big moment in cupcake history. Many say the hysterical popularity of the cupcake began as a result of this episode.
Such is the power of television.
And cupcakes.
I rest my case.

2

#2 Friends
Season 7/episode 11 (The one with all the cheesecakes)
The cheesecake scene

2

2

For those who have seen this episode, you must remember that creamy, smooth mess that Chandler and Rachel ate off the floor. Rachel described it as “a buttery, crumbly, graham cracker crust, with a very rich yet light, cream cheese filling…”. Does that not sound heavenly? And don’t you just love it when Joey walks in, pulls a fork out of his pocket, and asks very matter-of-factly- “All right, what are we having?”

2

#1 How I met your mother
Season 4/episode 2 (The best burger in New York)
The burger scene/s

2

2

The gang travels all over the city looking for what Marshall says was the best burger he’s ever eaten. And the description of the burger…sigh…”The bun, like a sesame freckled breast of an angel, resting gently on the ketchup and mustard below, flavors mingling in a seductive pas de deux. And then… a pickle! The most playful little pickle! Then a slice of tomato, a leaf of lettuce and a patty of ground beef so exquisite, swirling in your mouth, breaking apart, and combining again in a fugue of sweets and savor so delightful.”
I’m drooling. Right. Now. (please say you are too)

2

I feel bad for leaving out vampire shows (I LOVE them), but I couldn’t for the life of me think of a food moment in any of them!
Can you?
